International patients arrive with records in different formats and languages, and leave needing records their doctor at home can use. Clinics that handle both ends smoothly make the patient’s life easier and earn trust on a point most clinics overlook.
This guide covers records, translation and privacy for international patients. At the end, we explain how our referral network works.
- Records flow in two directions: from the patient’s home doctor to you, and back again.
- Tell patients exactly what you need, in which format, and how to send it securely.
- Send patients home with a clear summary in English for their doctor.
- No cost during our launch period: if your clinic already works this way, apply to our network in about five minutes.
Receiving records
Send patients a short list of exactly what you need: recent test results, imaging, medication list, relevant history. Say which formats you accept and how to send them securely. Patients without a list tend to send everything, or nothing.
Translation
If your clinical team doesn’t read English fluently, decide in advance who translates key documents and how. On the way out, provide discharge summaries, operative notes and medication instructions in English, so the patient’s home doctor can continue their care.
Privacy
Explain how you store and share patient information, and get the patient’s consent before sharing records with anyone, including family. Follow your country’s data protection law. Patients increasingly ask, and a clear answer builds trust.
Our network: how we send you patients
If your clinic already works this way, or wants to, you can receive patients through our network. HealthcareAbroad.co is part of a network of English-language guides for patients researching treatment abroad, many of them considering Colombia.
- A patient contacts usThey read our guides and tell us about their case through our form or WhatsApp.
- We check and assignWe confirm the procedure, dates, budget and records. If the case is complete and fits your clinic, we send it to you.
- Your clinic quotesYour coordinator contacts the patient in English, with a price in USD. The medical and commercial relationship is between you and the patient.
Each case goes to one clinic at a time. If your clinic can’t take it or doesn’t reply within one business day, it goes to another approved partner.

No cost while we build the network
If we send you a case during our launch period, you pay nothing for it. That way you can judge the quality of our referrals before any commitment.
Later on, partnership will become a paid marketing service. You’ll see the terms in writing and decide whether to continue before any charge. Medical fees always stay between your clinic and the patient.
